A Modern Tube Microphone
Hydra is designed to deliver the character of a tube microphone without the need for a traditional external power supply.
The microphone is powered directly from standard 48 V phantom power (P48). Inside the microphone, a carefully designed signal path combines a NOS tube, an interstage transformer and a low-impedance output buffer.
The result is a rich, detailed and naturally responsive tube microphone with a compact and practical design.
Our cardioid capsule uses a 3 µm gold-sputtered diaphragm, chosen for its low moving mass and fast transient response beautifully complement the tube electronics.
Fully modular
Although Hydra is supplied as a complete microphone with cardioid capsule, the microphone body is designed as a modular microphone system.
The capsule can be replaced by simply changing the adapter ring. This allows you to use Hydra with a wide range of condenser capsules, including many classic and modern designs.
In other words, one Hydra body can become many different microphones.
Use the supplied cardioid capsule for a fast, detailed and versatile tube microphone, or install one of your favorite vintage capsules to explore an entirely different sonic character.
No modification to the microphone body is required.
