Battery-powered microphones and a FetHead Phantom not always work well together. For a microphone like the Rode NTG-2 or any other battery-powered microphone, the regular FetHead would be the most suitable option. Since the microphone already has its own power source (battery), it doesn’t rely on phantom power from the preamp or mixer. Therefore, the regular FetHead, which does not pass phantom power to the microphone, would work well in this setup. It provides clean gain without affecting the microphone’s power requirements.
